Papuareview.com – The Regent of Pegunungan Bintang (Pegubin) Spei Yan Bidana admitted that office activities in Oksibil, the Capital City of the Pegunungan Bintang Regency, Papua, were paralyzed due to actions carried out by a group calling itself the West Papua National Liberation Army, the Free Papua Organization (TPNPB/OPM), Kodap XXXV Bintang Timur.
Spei Yan Bidana said that the action since Saturday (7/1/23) has caused the activities of ASN and residents in this area to not be normal.
“I will return to Oksibil and consolidate so that ASN and the community can carry out their activities again,” said Regent Spei Yan Bidana at the Silas Papare Sentani Lanud Base Ops, Friday, January 13, 2023, quoted by Antara.
Currently, as many as 155 residents have reportedly fled the area to Sentani. Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Beni Prabowo, reported by ANTARA, said the 155 people were mostly women and children.
They departed from Oksibil on charter planes and military planes which since Thursday (12/1) have been serving the Sentani-Oksibil route carrying logistics for soldiers. Residents who fled upon their arrival in Sentani, Jayapura Regency, were immediately taken by their relatives.
Erlina from Banyuwangi, East Java, one of the residents who fled to Sentani, Jayapura Regency, using the CN A 2307 plane said she was scared because she heard shots almost every night.
With regard to this condition, the Commander of Korem 172/PWY, Brigadier General TNI JO Sembiring, stated that the TNI-Polri security forces would pursue and arrest the two leaders of the armed group in Oksibil, namely Ananias Mimin and Nason Mimin.
“The TNI-Polri will pursue and arrest the two KSB leaders who have been carrying out acts of terror against the community,” said Sembiring.
He said various preparations had now been made so that if the armed groups did not surrender immediately, measured legal action would surely be imposed on them. Ananias Mimin is the organ of the kingpin they call Kodap XXXV Bintang Timur, and his colleague Nason Mimin is currently spreading terror, both arson and shootings around Oksibil.
“I have ordered members to chase and arrest them in a measured way,” he said.
He said, currently troops have been deployed to secure the area so that people are asked not to be afraid in their activities.
Until mid-December 2022, a video circulating from TPNPB-OPM, which was said to have killed a motorcycle taxi driver in the Bintang Mountains, Papua, went viral on social media.
Through a report from the East Bintang Kodap 35 Operations Commander, Mayor Yospen Mimin, admitted that he had shot an intelligence agent disguised as a motorcycle taxi driver on Jalan Trans Papua Oksibil, Papua. They confirmed that they had killed the intelligence agent after finding an FN type pistol on his body.
